Daniel
Alpert is a producer, director and editor whose films have
been nominated for Academy and national Emmy Awards and have aired
on PBS, HBO, A&E and on television and at festivals around
the world. Alpert is president of Axial Productions, a production
company that creates innovative, engaging and entertaining documentaries.
He recently directed, produced and co-wrote A
History of God, a two-hour documentary special for A&E
Networks. From 1995-1999 he co-produced and edited
Legacy, a feature length documentary for HBO, which was
nominated for a 2001 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature
and was an official selection at the 2000 Sundance Film Festival.
From 1994 to 1997, Alpert produced No
Time to be a Child, a three-part series that aired nationally
on PBS as well as internationally in over 12 countries. No Time
To Be A Child was awarded major grants from the Ford Foundation,
the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and The Corporation
For Public Broadcasting and received many honors, including a
nomination for a national Emmy Award. Legacy and
No Time To Be A Child have also been widely
distributed to high schools, universities, community groups and
professional organizations throughout the country. A native of
Chicago, Alpert received his formal training in film and television
at Tel Aviv University, Israel.
